PHP 5.5 vs HHVM vs Node.js Benchmark part 3

In the previous part hhvm was pretty slow doing bubble sort this was due code not being inside a function. THe key take away is always using functions when using hhvm especially for time consuming code.

PHP 5.5 vs HHVM vs Node.js Benchmark part 2

In the first set of benchmarks I did I focused on recursive calls. In this second benchmark I focused on arrays. While scoured the web for various benchmarks I came across this one (http://jaxbot.me/articles/benchmarks_nodejs_vs_go_vs_php_3_14_2013 which shows that php is not very good at bubble sort. Bubble sort is a slow O(n^2) algorithm. The version I used is pretty much the worst way you can write it. It has to make n*n comparisons in total.

PHP 5.5 vs HHVM vs Node.js Benchmark

I wanted to run a benchmark of HHVM against php 5.5. I also threw in Node.js since it is pretty fast. I was really surprised by the results.
